Artisan Electrics

This article was generated from a post on Reddit suggesting that even though Artisan Electrics subs have increased, their video hours watched has increased, their revenue generated hasn't.

Is Youtube dead? Is what Artisan saying similar to everyone who content creates on Youtube?

Well, it is a bit of yes and no. Is Youtube dead? No. Are you getting less money in advertiser rates, probably. According to the rest of the Reddit post, other creators are having the same issues. MrBeast also had a chat with Youtube about the issue a few months back. But 4 years difference in very large. In the olden days you could buy highly sought after keywords on Adwords for 10c. Now, those very same keywords are multiple dollars per click.

But we have to measure apples and apples here. An electrical company will get more revenue than someone who is promoting random videos. Only when engagement increases then advertisers want to come on to your videos.

We also have to state that advertisers are not throwing money onto something without something back. If you can have stats to say that when people advertise on your site, or sponsor you they will get X amount of Z then your channel is going to be worth more. Brand awareness and paying for that is helpful, but brands are seeking something in return.

So if this is happening to Artisan Electrics, what can they do?

The positives of Artisan Electrics

Artisan Electrics does commercial and residential electrical work and is based in the UK. They have a ton of social and a large amount of online presence and all of it is professional and cool. They have:

  • 21k followers on Facebook
  • 249k subs on Youtube
  • 79 million total video views
  • 85k followers on TikTok
  • A nice home page with professional setting and up-to-date info- including electric vehicle hook ups
  • there also seems to be a main person in the videos which is a cool thing. Making the videos more relatable rather than too company focused (check out the difference with GamesStop).
  • There is another video channel which sells/ promotes tools to the trades- Tools4Sparks

So what else can Artisan Electrics do?

Remember that this isnt a dig at Artisan. Far from it. They seem to know what they are doing, they are very professional. The point is to (hopefully) give some ideas of other things which they could do. An outsider looking in, if you will.

So this is difficult because of what we said earlier, things change. And online it does nearly hourly. So:

  • Youtube reduces barriers to entry. One video can look and be the same as everyone else
  • Quite a few people have subs of middle hundreds to low tens. The idea is not the subs but the interaction. How can we get more people to interact, how can we engage with our subscribers. And practically all of your videos have good comments and "likes". So people like you and what you are doing.

But ultimately Youtube is not really an advertiser medium from clicks on videos to advertisers. If so then they are not clicking on your links. So, in a way, less clicks might be a good thing :)

So, your Youtube channel probably need to be having less click throughs to other advertisers and more clicks onto your links.

That is probably where we are going to be coming from here. No to solve the increase in PPC per video, that is kinda easy:

  1. create videos with high click revenue
  2. increase the amount of traffic

However, you then start to lose the essence of your videos.

Anyways. Here are some points that we have noted:

  • Who are your videos guided to. They seem to be electricians within the trade of commercial and residential? If this is the case then you are probably answering their questions and they like your content
  • Who are your videos guided to part 2. If it is trying to get people to use your company then some of those videos are not quite aiming for that specific audience. And with you being UK based then full worldwide Youtube might not be the answer as a call out charge would be kinda high :) Most of the social are generating some awesome feedback and subs, but it is trying to figure out how to use those people into your videos
  • Unsure what ToolsForSparks is.

I am understanding from the info and videos that is it directed towards Electricians but then it seems to be Amazon affiliated. So is it your own tool brand, or something specific like that? That would be a nice idea (to have your own private label). So, if it is a separate company we can understand the different channel. If it is a resource for electricians only, then why the separate channel? It is just difficult to understand the thinning out of Artisan Electrics Youtube sites which seems to be directed towards electricians to a channel which has little in common with Artisan Electrics. So you need to build up trust again. And when you do click on an affiliate link it can't send out to Canada (where we are). So again, the location might be an issue, regardless of the Amazon link.

  • Love the homepage. But there is one thing that is very lacking. The promotion of your social network. Most Youtubers who have a channel and a website proudly promote their channel- its a trust factor. Is free views and you can also catch a subscriber. It also generates some involvement- you are just not a webpage, people can see and hear you, maybe even chat to you (or at least subconsciously have the opportunity to do so).
  • Your description box is a bit much:

It goes on a little more after this. More links can be too many links. Also, what are you trying to promote here. The likeliness people will enter your code is limited unless you offer them to do so, but that can be against terms of service for some companies. No need for:

  1. Tubebuddy- a Youtube analytics company
  2. Who is going to switch to Octopus Energy- someone int he UK? If they do, why should they, you need to list reasons, but not here
  3. Discord?
  4. Electricians business course?
  5. Channel member to get perks? Like what?
  6. Tools4Sparks?
  • Electricians business course. So this is advertised on Facebook?- how to become an Electrician (probably mention UK). So it seems there are 3 channels here instead. How to Become an Electrician including Marketing for Electricians. A Youtube channel for Electricians. You could even throw in another channel Ask and Electrician- where your customers or potential customer could be/ sent to. And we get the vibe that your channel seems to be going in these directions and you seem to enjoy this part.

The above is cool, but the video shown is the one which I clicked on to get to here. Usually this is the lead, click on the video next to the signup to get a hint of what you will get. Oh, hang on. We have another Youtube channel- Electricians Business Tips.

So, we have 1.8k subs but a total of 9.9k views- which shows that people are enjoying what you have. But then we have the links again coming from Youtube:

artisan electrics 6
  1. Insta is broken
  2. Do you own the quoting company? If not, no link
  3. The full course seems to be the videos on this channel, unsure if it is, but the sign in form huuugely suggests it
  4. The start session doesnt seem to be affiliated with you or your company so you have competing links.
  • Becoming an electrician course. It needs more pictures, more video, more promotional content (remember those social stats). We could go into your course, but it need to have a separate channel to really funnel in the prime candidates. However, with being UK only, you might need a "brain trust" of electricians from other countries and affiliate with them. The channel would also house marketing for electricians videos- which will have a higher PPC rate. It would also have info on pro tips and coaching. This can then open up seminars and conferences.
  • The links that you have. So the Tubebuddy? That could be thrown into the channel for marketing/ business for electricians. Make multiple amount of videos on its use and how it can be specifically for electricians. Same with Discord and even your subscriber perks- have a video describing what they get, what are the actual perks? And because they are a member/ subscriber they get a discount from your private label tool shelf.

Pheww a lot going on. But we think that Artisan Electrics is there, they have all the building blocks that they need. It might need to be rearranged a little more, but with what they have, they can probably do much more.

As always, we wish Artisan Electrics all the best.
