You must have seen the Youtuber Amazon FBA (fulfilled by Amazon) videos. You look up about Amazon and hey presto, you get sent a barrage of YouTube videos.
Lets get this out of the way first:
We will also go through the obvious question.
Is Amazon FBA worth it or not? And are we being sold on the idea of FBA or are we actually going to make something through this venture?
Quick overview.
Amazon FBA is the idea that you send Amazon product, they house, pack it and send it out. While also listing on their site. You don't have to do too much on this side. However, there are some negatives with it:
These are all issues that can affect how FBA is utilised and most Youtubers do mention these. However what we have noticed is that there is a contradiction with many. They suggest about the fees but then talk more about how much you can make. Always the possibility.
This is Travis Marziani.
This was one of the first videos that I saw all the way through. It was also not the first Travis videos that I have seen. He posts a lot and seems to be one of the people for Amazon selling.
He has 311k subscribers with a range of views to videos of 60-20k- which is a wide range of viewers.
What is enjoyable about the videos is that Travis has:
But the one thing that gets me is why the reduction in video views from a large subscriber base that seem to be subscribing due to the fact that they want to know about Amazon FBA? Take for example this video:
It is an interview with someone who made $400 million. So why hasn't is got much better views? For me it got something to do with this:
They were generating tens of millions of dollars yet came with a quarter of a million dollar loss. Which is huge.
However, in the video they say they were the top 10 seller on Amazon and sales were just going up and up. Yes true, but you lost a ton of cash doing so.
The video seems to be away from "ordinary" people that do not start with a business already generating cash. And how are they losing money?
To lose that amount they are buying ads. It seems to be a theme with a lot of selling videos and websites. Throw enough money at something and it will sell...but conversion? Conversion that just might need to be worked on. I go into a little depth on conversion with paid placement here.
I also found that the interviewing seems just to allow the interviewee to talk. There was very little in the way of:
I like them but, as he points out, $1 million in sales is not $1 million in profit:
The above picture is taken from the video at the start of this page. Describing someone who Travis helped. If you have $300k lying around, you are doing OK. If you saved that and the other costs you would have made more than selling on Amazon :) The above is also $28k/ month profit- which is awesome.
So the videos seem to be educational and have some promotion in them (which is fine).
So what can Travis do to increase his promotional efforts?
Unsure if this has been tested but why not state what you can get, something free, a ton of testimonials on that page- you have 1000+ people how have gone down this route, get their testimonials up there.
We applied an email address to the above screen and we get:
OK. Where is the product? When you click on the link you get a questionnaire. I wonder how many people click away. This again where a entry level product from Travis would be super cool. I want to know what Travis has to tell me. I want to know more about Amazon FBA and by this stage I would buy something. But at this stage I am also wondering:
The idea behind questionnaires is to see if you want to be tutored. But this is not how they work effectively. Tutoring/ mentorship is a widely used way to engage more with people who want to go that extra mile and are determined enough to do it. They can be very effective to the leader and the student. It works well. You:
We like Travis's style and we wish him all the best.
