Why did MrBeast choose Shopify is a personal question that I was looking for. Especially when you have custom Wordpress stores, stand alone stores, shaky Shopify stock price and a wealth of inbetween.
Clearly we are not within the inner circle of MrBeast and we can not 100% state why, but the process of finding out why has also given us a little more insight into MrBeast, his team and also how odd some companies are behaving.
The main thing that Shopify offers is a powerful range of info tool and plugin power. It has this going for them:
We all know that Feastables went onto feature in Walmart and then other stores.
TikTok is a huge platform for the targeted market
And then we get data...and tons of it. If you are selling through Meta, TikTok in the numbers that MrBeast is generating then you are going to get a huge goldmine of data.
If you want to know, the template that MrBeast uses on Shopify is heavily modified, but the Aurora Theme - Pure - Ecommerce Website Template is a very close match :)
MrBeast knows Youtube and when you read about this, it seems to shock so many people and companies. The guy makes his living on the platform and the only way to know what Youtube likes is to find out and test?! He also had other Youtubers who helped and who he studied (PewDiePie). So companies were intrigued that this would happen. They didn't realise that Youtube:
It is also very odd that they see this meteoric rise. The internet makes this so. It is a selling channel (thats all) and a very quick one at that. So you can virtually see instant results. Mine data, get in contact with fans and buyers of previous products with little cost. So the monetary amounts are not too surprising.
This to us is very baffling and odd. You don't use a platform unless you know how that platform works.
Anyway.
Apart from the MrBeast regulars MrBeast has also got 2 people who have helped his rise in business. And this is classic "what you should do".
So, MrBeast hires Jim Murray in 2021 to head up Feastables.
Who is Jim Murray? The person who helped RXBar become large. Once Feastable was promoted through Feastable.com they then opened up the Walmart market (again Shopify being used here).
Then we have Reed Duchscher from Night Media
This is where in 2018 MrBeast got signed up through a management company. This company helps creators do more. They also helped with BeastBurger. Aaaaand they also helped MrBeast signup with the various different deals that he has done in the past, including Honey (https://www.dallasnews.com/business/technology/2019/06/09/how-the-dallas-agency-behind-viral-philanthropist-mrbeast-gives-top-youtubers-control-over-their-destiny/). They also:
Guess when MrBeast started to use Shopify? 2018.
So it seems that the Shopify collaboration was created through Night Media to initially sell merch. Then when food products were added, as in Feastables and Jim Murray was added to the roster.
Well, Shopify was just a natural fit as it plugged directly into Walmart.
Now, Reed Duchscher first started helping Dude Perfect with their management and direction/ products. Guess who Dude Perfect use as their merch store?
Shopify.
Now it could have been that through CrateBind (who centralised Dude Perfect content and a user of Shopify). Or it could have been after Reed that Dude Perfect used Shopify but which ever it is Shopify seems to be the main storefront.
There is a plausible possibility, and a very genius one, that Shopify placed their infrastructure infront of these Youtube stars/ Night Media. If you think about it, you will obtain:
Either way we wish Night Media and Shopify all the best
